Academic Writing (1)

These days, our discussion centred around academic writing, which we will come across and apply in practice in the main course. So, we must have a clear recognition of academic writing.

Academic writing is a particular kind of writing that can be recognised by its style. It is mainly formal, impersonal, and objective, other distinctive features will depend upon the specific types of academic writing. These include essays, research reports and articles, case studies, survey, dissertations, theses,and examination papers. In most of these the writer is expect to include reference to other writing or research.
